Our terrific two year olds
At BestStart Foxton Beach Kindy we have lots of two-year-olds and really value their way of learning and their contribution to our programme. They love to explore with their whole bodies, they like movement and anything messy. In our centre we allow for this learning style through supportive teaching strategies where we ensure they are welcomed in to play and encouraged to explore at their own pace.
Our centre also creates a culture where Tuakana/teina relationships are valued and extended. This is where older or more experienced children take the younger ones under their wing and support their learning. They do this by celebrating with them, inviting them in to play and ensuring they get a turn. We intentionally use positive language around their learning style and role model inclusiveness which has created our centre culture as a centre for all learners.
