This morning we visited three of our local superheros! They are our Firemen and Firewomen. These wonderful men and women volunteer their time to educate us about all as well as protect us all from fire.

While at the firestation we:

-were shown around the station

-explored the fire trucks by climbing up the high steps and sitting inside

-some of us tried on the fireman uniform

-we talked to the firemen and firewomen about fire safety

When we finished our visit, we returned to the centre. At mat time we read a Story; 'Get Out! Stay Out!'. For your child to successfully learn about fire safety, it is important to encourage and reinforce the key fire-safety messages in the story at home as well. We hope you all enjoy the gifts from the Kamo Fire Station that your tamariki got to take home. We will also be reading the story at the centre on a regular basis.

We will be organising termly visits to the Fire Station to reinforce the importance of fire safety, and connecting with our local community.
