Outdoor play at BestStart Vivian Street

Outdoor play at BestStart Vivian Street

Rain or shine, children thrive from outdoor experiences. Coated up in a rain jacket and gumboots jumping in puddles, or running barefoot through the grass on a sunny day. Not only do children thrive off experiences like this, they enjoy them too! Playing is learning!

Outdoor play is a wonderful way to incorporate body movement and exercise into your child’s day. Children develop their body movements and bone growth through simple tasks like running, jumping, climbing, crouching, and so much more that can occur in an outdoor environment. Outdoor play enables children to explore, and question their surroundings. Children discover spatial awareness, improving their physical abilities and problem solving skills.

Not only does being outdoors enable children to run, jump and swing, it offers children scientific experiences too. Bugs and insects enjoy nature too. At BestStart Vivian Street, searching, finding and learning about bugs that may visit our outdoor area will always be an interest of the tamariki. We investigate what they eat, how they survive, and how they contribute to our eco-system and nature as we know it. There is so much learning to be had from being out in nature!
