We started off our Plunket appreciation week with a Teddy Bear's picnic. Thank you to everyone who brought in a furry friend to join us.

Our tamariki showed off their growing pretend play skills as they blew on hot tea, shared delicious sandwiches, bit down on juicy rock melon, crunched cold cucumber, nibbled on tasty cheese and slurped milk from their cereal bowls. It was lovely to watch them sharing their kai with not only their friends but creatures of all shapes and sizes, even a bright green taniwha!

This opportunity encouraged and supported our tamariki as they continue strengthening their pretend play skills. Through pretend play, tamariki are learning to do things like negotiate, make plans and problem solve, consider others' perspectives, balance their own ideas with others, express themselves and listen to thoughts and ideas, experiment with the social and emotional roles of life, experiment with language and communication, explore symbolism and think creatively. And on top of all that its fun, don't we all love disappearing into the world of our imaginations?

Here are some snaps from our tasty picnic in the sun...
