Remembering The ANZACs In The Kiwi Room
For the past few weeks the children of the Kiwi Room have been learning about ANZAC Day. We have been reading a book called Anzac Ted which explains in a child friendly way what ANZAC means. I was very impressed with how many of our children already had prior knowledge and a basic understanding of ANZAC Day.
The children were all very busy painting egg cartons, red - which represented the Poppys. The egg cartons were then carefully cut out and glued on to make our special wreath. The children worked so hard that we actually had enough to make two wreaths. These special wreaths were then placed at Mosgiel’s ANZAC parade on Sunday morning. Thank you to our amazing families and children who attended this service and were able to place the wreaths on the memorial from the Kiwi Room.
The children were also introduced to making some yummy ANZAC biscuits. The children really enjoyed the process of helping out with making the biscuits and especially enjoyed eating them fresh out the oven.
