At BestStart Kamo Central, we had a few bean and pea seeds left over after our fun matariki evening. With this in mind we looked at our front garden and decided that it was time to re-plant. After all matariki is a time to harvest and plant new crops for the coming year.

The children had fun using both their gross and fine motor skills to help pull out all the old plants in preparation for planting the new seeds. After we carefully placed each seed into the soil making sure to space them far enough apart to give them space to grow, the children suggested we give the seeds some water. They all worked together helping each other fill up their watering cans before giving the seeds a much-needed drink of water to help them grow.
