Returning to daycare at Level 3
I would like to take a few minutes to express my sincere gratitude on how lucky I found myself with the Best Start family during this national crisis.
Summer my daughter who was 6 months at that stage, started daycare middle of January 2020. She clicked with her teachers at the Kowhai room so quickly and was enjoying her days until this national crisis happened. She was kept home safe by her dad during the level 4 lockdown.
I work in the pharmacy dispensing medicines and my husband works in a plastic production company ( producing sanitiser bottles as well). During this time we both had work, so I did days and lucky hubby had an option to change day shifts to nights
During the day, Summer spent time with dad and 6 year old brother Aaron. Nights mommy replaced dad . It was a difficult time for a lot of us. We thought we are lucky as we knew Summers routine. Her teachers at the Kowhai room always made sure dad was updated briefly on how her day went, upon pickup. It’s funny how these little things mean the most to children.
Basically dad being able to keep to Summers daycare routine kept things smooth at home. As soon as level 3 was announced, we were so relieved - daddy could go back to day shifts .
We were kept updated always on story park and knew exactly what to expect. No surprises there !
Summer started back at daycare and the first day when I dropped her, she seemed little confused as to what’s happening. From the second day onwards, she knew exactly that she was back with her daycare family . She started being her joyful self again.
I am so lucky I had the support of the staff especially Ricky , Karen , Lana and Sarah who are always a pleasure to deal with . So thank you team for your efforts to help people like us do our bit for the community during the national crisis.
What would our kids do without teachers like you, who love and care for them like their own!
