As Aotearoa moves through the challenges posed by the global Covid pandemic, BestStart Montessori the Gardens reopened at level three with a small bubble of ten. Over the previous weeks we had stayed in contact with our tamariki, pēpi and whānau through our online platform Storypark, which was wonderful. It was a brilliant way for us all to feel whanaungatanga and keep connected. Kaiako challenged themselves with technology, providing waiata, reading pukapuka and just checking in to say, “Kia ora!”  It was fantastic to have videos, photos and stories shared from whānau, keeping our connections strong.

Now that we are back in centre kaiako are supporting ākonga to feel safe and settled providing a program which supports their sense of wellbeing. We are ensuring they can continue and extend their learning journeys. Many of our pēpi and tamariki have learnt new skills and are sharing these with us, it is an exciting time for us all.

Our centre philosophy says: we foster the concept of whanaungatanga where responsive, reciprocal relationships between whānau, kaiako and the community to enhance the learning opportunities for each child. These relationships are based on respect, caring and communicating.
