Story Time during BestStart@Home

Engaging children in learning has been a priority for the teachers at Best-Start Stoddard.

Regular post on story park, music videos , activities and experiences are posted every day.
Today we had a live mat-time right from our centre for the tamariki who are still at home.
Books introduce children to the exciting world of stories and help them learn to express their own thoughts and emotions.
They learn so many life and social skills by participating in story time.
Storytime also broadens their vocabulary and their horizons. Remember an open mind is a learning mind.
Skills such as how to sit still for an extended period of time are learned at story time. As the reader is reading the book the child is sitting and listening.

  • Boosts their listening skills.
  • Fosters their imagination.
  • Increases their cultural understanding.
  • Enhances their communication skills.
  • Help sharpen memory.
  • Makes learning easier.
  • Improves social skills.

We see the smiling faces of our tamariki which motivates us to continue teaching and sharing learning experiences from home.
