Over the past month, we have seen our tamariki (children) sharing their ideas through creative and imaginative means. They are building on their sense of belonging and growing themselves as competent and confident learners. They are taking a leadership role during mat-times and spontaneous storytelling, while including their friends and Kaiako.

An example of this is the tamariki supporting the kaiako (teachers) during a mat-time while using props. They took turns and shared the resources between each other.

* Tamariki took a leadership role in choosing the song that she wanted to share with her friends. She guided the younger children with how the activity was to progress and supported them with their decision.
* A group of friends decided to set up their own story time in the quiet area, sharing books and songs that they enjoy.
* A spontaneous mat time with a kaiako occurred when all the other children had left for the day. He took control of the activity and guided the progression of it through the parts of the song he knew.
