'A lovingly executed ritual takes a routine, adds a touch of magic, a dash of connection and a whole lot of joy and delight'. 

As we know birthdays are a very special occasion. At BestStart Napier Central we have introduced a birthday ritual to celebrate each child's identity and their milestone. We take time and care to prepare a special birthday celebration tray which has a playdough cake, a candle, flowers and with a wee selection of food.

The purpose of this beautiful ritual is to create something that is personalised and done in a way that honours each child. We gather together and celebrate as we sing 'happy birthday' to the birthday person and afterwards enjoy having kai together.

Introducing love filled rituals such as this is a wonderful way of creating special moments and lasting memories for us all.
