We had a fabulous time visiting Auckland War Memorial Museum. Tamariki were part of a hands on Matariki workshop which taught us about The Creation Story, Maori new year and the placement of the stars in the sky. We then explored the Museums Pacific treasures section, volcano block, onto the dinosaurs area as requested by many and finally the kids exploration area which was a big hit with lots to look at, touch and do. Fantastic leaning opportunity for our tamariki to learn Matariki!  

We have been super busy creating wonderful (Maori New Year) Matariki star constellations pictures using paint, stampers and glitter. This was a great way to build on our learning from the Museum trip last week where we took part in a hands on Matariki experience. We have had a go at naming the stars and counting them.
