Visit from our favourite librarian

Adeliana from the Papakura library kindly came to visit our children in the preschool room in Kowhai. She shared some stories about Waitangi Day and about the signing of the treaty. The children were able to share with her, their room treaty, that they had designed together with their teachers.

Adeliana let the children know about the wonders of visiting their local library and the services they provide.

These visits provide a link with our local community. It also promotes the children's interest in literacy which shows how books and stories can inform and excite them. Introducing books as reference is valuable for children to learn about their own culture and that of others.

Thank you Adeliana. I heard many children chatting to their parents as they left to go home, excited by your visit.
