Visiting our elderly friends
At BestStart Beckenham we have a well-established relationship with our local retirement home. Every month a group of our preschool children leave the centre and walk to visit our friends at Archer Retirement Village. The children had some morning tea with the residents, talking with the residents and having a few cuddles. Earlier that week we had prepared a special painting for our friends. We presented the residents our beautiful painting we had painted just for them and shared some of our favourite preschool songs. The staff and residents all really enjoyed the painting and placed it on the wall in there cafeteria, with some of our previous paintings. This monthly excursion teaches the children respect for others by making a positive difference to the Archer residents day, gain knowledge about our local community and share and develop our children’s communication and confidence.
