In March, the BestStart Omokoroa children are still loving playing outside in the warm sun. Water play and the sandpit are huge interests of our children. This interest is spread from the four-year-olds in the Kuaka room, 3-year-olds in the Tui room, 2-year-olds in Kotare and the under 2s in Piwakawaka room. We have done lots of different activities including water and it is always available for the children to access with our fabulous water features and low, child friendly taps. As you can see in the photos the delight that is had by all. Also check out our video in the video section of all the laughter and fun the Kotare children had with the sprinkler.

Water and sand play are great parts of our learning here at BestStart Omokoroa - as well as being fun. It encourages science and discovery as they learn about volume, gravity, geology, textures and the senses. Children are using their imaginations and taking on different roles as they play their own games.  Social competency is being encouraged through water play as children play with and alongside the other children, they learn about turn taking, working together, communication, regulating our emotions, and building and strengthening friendships.
