Welcoming tamariki back to the Investigators Room
It has been wonderful welcoming back our tamariki and whanau to the Investigators Room at BestStart Oraha Road; with many of them having been off enjoying the summer holidays.
With so many of our families having gone away over the Christmas and New Year period, we thought it would be nice to create a summer display, all about what the children and their families have been up to.
During our first full week back, we brought out the paint and paper, and I asked the children if they would like to paint a picture featuring something that they did on their holiday. There were some great responses and some very creative pieces of art.
These beautiful works of art have gone up on the wall, alongside some photos which we asked our parents to send in. Our tamariki and whanau have enjoyed being able to look at both their photos and their artwork on the wall, which is a wonderful way to help promote and support their sense of belonging in their classroom.
Through this experience, our children have been able to practice and refine their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. They were able to think back to prior experiences, and through a creative thought process, have been able to express their thoughts and feelings about those experiences on paper.
What a great way to start 2021. The BestStart Oraha Road team are looking forward to another year of fun, laughter and learning.
