What can I make?
Last week at BestStart Morrinsville the hot glue guns and an assortment of different lids and materials were pulled out for our tamariki to use to create with. There were all different kinds of wonderful creations! The idea behind this free play is that tamariki are only limited by their imagination as they are given the opportunity to create what they like or just have fun using the hot glue guns because for some of our tamariki the process is more important than the outcome.
All our tamariki were happy with their creations and most of them pulled them apart so that they could create something different. With reusing the pieces from past creations, the tamariki are learning to reuse different products and pieces to create their new master piece, therefore learning recycling skills. There is so much learning happening here and for every child they would have taken away something different but just as meaningful to add to their kete of knowledge.
