As part our Term One holiday programme, Nga Tamariki were encouraged to bring along something from home for wheels day. This day linked into our current focus around "What are different types of transport vehicles are used for". One of the children brought in her push pedal car which was a big hit with all tamariki. We had a lot of fun racing around our bike track pretending to be in car races with the bikes and this car.

We even had pit stops where Nga Tamariki would turn the bikes and car over and pretend to fix them with our screw drivers before they jumped on them again for to continue "the race". It was great to see Nga Tamariki extending on their learning in a fun way and also developing and extending on essential skills such as problem solving, team work, sharing and taking on others ideas and opinions, communicating thoughts and ideas and listening skills.
