The month of December was a time of celebration here at Best Start Kauri Flats!

We recognise this time of the year as a time of reflection, for us to look back on all we have achieved over the last 12 months. Although 2020 was a year of challenge and uncertainty for many, we are proud of the way we carried each other through these unprecedented times as a centre whanau.

We are immensely proud of the way our families came together during this year, and how resilient our children has been! This is a huge reflection of the strong bonds and relationships our centre and our teachers have with the families in our community. To lighten the year a little, together we were fortunate enough to see out the year in style, with our Kauri Flats Christmas Party!

During the lead up to our Christmas Party, the children and the teachers worked tirelessly to prepare for the event – however this was no chore at all! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the process of decorating the centre with Christmas decorations, setting up our classrooms to portray our unique festive spirit, and getting involved with many Christmas activities!

From Christmas Carols to painting our windows, art activities and telling stories, our children shared their knowledge on Christmas and what this time of the year means to their families in various ways. We were even lucky enough to start embracing the warmer weather which simply added to all the Christmas fun!

On the morning of our Christmas party, rain clouds came out to play and we worried we might have to postpone. Our children and their teachers simply couldn’t wait to celebrate, so ahead we went! And what a stunning afternoon it turned out to be!

Shared kai, face painting and a few very special furry friends who popped in to visit and away we went, Christmas Party was a go!

We had such a wonderful afternoon sharing in the delight with our families. The children had the opportunity to enjoy a pony ride if they wished, engage with their families over delicious food, and we even had the old man himself, Santa, stop by for a special visit! He even brought a little something for each of our tamariki to take home as a small gift, a token of our love of learning here at Kauri Flats.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! We know 2021 has some very special things in store for our Centre, and we cannot wait!

Lots of love and learning,

The children and teachers from Best Start Kauri Flats x
