Come on an adventure with ABC St Albans early learning centre. We are currently located in a centre a few blocks away from our beautiful villa while it is undergoing renovation. Pop on down to 44 Shirley Road and visit our team and young adventurers!

Our centre vision is to let kids be kids

Children learn through exploration and taking risks that are age-appropriate, we provide a playground that offers areas to explore and discover in their own unique way. We support children’s growth and developmental stages by embracing and celebrating their milestones and achievements, no matter how dirty they get!

What makes us different?

The way we support children to play and learn involves our curriculum (everything we do!) being set up so that tamariki can have a say in their own learning, with input from our families as well.

We know that children's development and readiness for school starts from a very early age, and our last Education Review Office report recognised that our “wide curriculum coverage gives emphasis to literacy, science, physical play and sustainable practices, such as gardening". The transition to school programme is well integrated to benefit all children in the preschool. Children are well supported to take responsibility for themselves, develop friendships with others and to care for the environment.”

We provide healthy and delicious meals each day made by our cook or even our children. We encourage the children to cook or bake lunch or morning and afternoon kai each week as part of our Healthy Heart programme. Children take responsibility for their well-being by choosing what they would like to make and then work alongside teachers to prepare or even cook the food.

Our small intimate Nursery allows for quality trusting relationships between teachers and children, which supports their development and milestones so that when they are ready to transition to the Preschool they are confident and competent in a bigger environment. Transitioning is done at their own pace when they are ready, teachers work alongside the families, child and other teachers to ensure everyone is comfortable with the change.

We welcome you to come and visit us at anytime that suits - we look forward to meeting you!

kind words from our parents

Parent

I would like to give a HUGE thank you for the care and education Emmaly has received during her time at ABC St Albans. Your staff are wonderful to interact with, and my daughter has felt welcomed and comfortable since her first day. I have enjoyed knowing that she eats in a shared, collaborative environment – I recommend your daycare to all of the new parents I meet. She is going to miss the sandpit and mudpit!
