Our centre is based in the heart of the Palmerston North riverside suburb of Hokowhitu, close to the town centre. We are in walking distance to popular landmarks like The Esplanade and Manawatu River walkway and are just around the corner from the beautiful Hokowhitu Lagoon.
Each year we gather at a local landmark 'He Ara Kotahi' to celebrate Matariki with not only our centre whanau but our local community. Crossing over our local Awa as we remember lost loved ones and prepare for the coming year.We host our annual inter-hub Athletics Day utilising our local school environment as part of our set for school programme. We have a Community Kindness hub in our foyer where we give with one hand and receive with the other. On one side of the foyer is our sharing shelf were our whanau bring in anything they have to share ie: extra fruit/vege from seasonal harvests to clothes that no longer fit their little ones.
One the other side is our Just One Please basket- each month we partner with Women's refuge, they tell us what items are needed and we as a centre provide these with each family providing just one small item that they add to their weekly shopping.
We have a highly skilled team with each room having passionate teachers that are specialised in the developmental ages and stages of the children in their care. Our centre priorities are Kindness , Curiosity and Confidence and each of our our team members have been carefully chosen based on what our Whanau tell us they want for their tamariki from their time here with us.
We pride ourselves on our age-appropriate learning spaces so our children have the freedom to actively engage with the learning space for their age and stage. We have three specialised age-based rooms to provide the most meaningful, intentional, and stimulating environment for each child. Children ‘learn by doing’ and here learning is encouraged through play and a fun-filled environment. All learning environments have beautiful outdoor learning environments with water streams, sandpits, vegetable gardens
