Here at Best Start Milson Line, one of our favourite times is school holiday time!

Our tamariki and their whanau ask us "what's the plan?" leading up to each school holiday period as they know we love to make it a little extra special.

This term's break was no different as we had sensory and science day, book and character day, craft day, sports day, science day, wheels day and our fave PJ and movie day!

The tamariki had so much fun engaging in our special days. Sensory and science day was full of lots of messy play, this is always a hit! Slime oozing between fingers, playdough being squished and paint colouring paper, windows and sometimes hair. On the science side it was full of wonder, working theories and experiments.

We explored physics, chemical reactions, and learned about our bodies. Book and character day had everyone dressed up looking so cool, while we shared stories from the centre and special ones friends bought from home. We finished out week one with craft day, this is where their imaginations ran wild – boxes, cello-tape, paint, crayons, felts, paper of every shape colour, size and thickness, glitter and everything that sparkled, all put out for them to explore.

The pictures and constructions were amazing! Week two was even better, kicking off with Sports Day, full of rugby, cricket, netball and soccer players. Our real grass field really came into play this day as we had our sports equipment all set up ready to go! We followed sports day with wheels day and this was such an amazing day we’ve decided we need to do it much more often.

We had bikes and scooters galore! We also had trucks, cars and some pretty amazing lego and mobile constructions with wheels happening. We closed it out with a relaxing PJ and movie day and the weather really made this perfect with it being a cold and rainy day! We can’t wait to plan our next school holiday program to be even bigger and better!
