We have recently added a house frame into our playroom which has been turned into Brooklyn’s kitchen!
This kitchen is never without a chef and someone is always busy cooking or selling food to others.
The older children love selling ice creams and cooking dinner for their babies. Our younger children love being included in this dramatic play, too. They wait patiently while their ice cream is being made and then they are encouraged to eat it before it starts dripping.
There are so many different opportunities for the children to work together no matter their age or abilities. A little one had woken up after their sleep in the afternoon and a friend was close by to help them put on their socks so they would be ready to start playing again.
When a new friend starts, they receive a buddy who likes to stay close so they can show them around and what is expected when you start at BestStart Brooklyn. A buddy looks after a new friend as she explores the slide and learns all about how slippery it is. A teacher is never far away to lend a hand or give words of encouragement.
In our playground ,we have an AstroTurf hill that gives you enough momentum to get down the hill and roll a little way before you stop. It is perfect for riding bikes and scooters, pushing strollers or wagons up and down. It can be hard trying to get back to the top of the hill, but it doesn’t take long before a superstar comes to your rescue and helps to push you back up to the top.
These are just some of the magical moments that we enjoy everyday at BestStart Brooklyn. Our children are caring for each other and they are always happy to help. They want to be involved in the care of a friend, so moments like these are perfect examples of how we can practice being a good friend.
