As a celebration of Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori all Best Start Hawkes Bay centres performed Tutira Mai Ngā Iwi at 9.30am on Thursday the 18th September.
Kaiako and tamariki loved to tautoko this occasion. Tamariki were led by Whaea Tam and supported by all kaiako as we sang and did the actions to this waiata that was composed by a whānau in this region.
The wairua was felt across our Hawkes Bay hub as we enacted the core values of kotahitanga, Whanaungatanga and mana o te reo Māori. This occasion was espescially close to the hearts of our Willowpark Road team, tamariki and whānau as it is central to our philosophy and local curriculum.
At BestStart Willowpark Road we acknowledge Māori as Tanagta Whenua and recognise the bi cultural heritage of Aotearoa. We work to uphold the spirit and intent of Te Tiriti O Waitiangi by making Te Reo me ngā tikanga Māori an integral part of our programme.
This was such a wonderful way to celebrate the ending of Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori! Ake Ake Ake! Toitu te reo
