As the holiday season approaches everyone’s spirits are up talking about the upcoming holidays, plans to go away camping or spending time with whānau they have not seen in a while.
With Christmas fast approaching tamariki assisted Kaiako to decorate the room with a homemade snow man from recycling used boxes and cotton balls. As we were on covid restrictions we had our children's Christmas party in the centre with an in-house Santa. We prepared a special lunch for tamariki to enjoy and Santa was ready to deliver gifts of a pukapuka/book to each child.
Tamariki recalled experiences of previous holidays, chatted to each other and Kaiako about family trips and upcoming events. Kaiako emphasized the importance of kindness through the activities and conversations in keeping with our philosophy.
The learning that occurred was immeasurable. Taking turns, helping each other on group projects, encouraging each other and the language to express their ideas were highly encouraged.
