Tamariki at BestStart Dublin Street enjoyed a vibrant Diwali celebration with Murukku, Henna, and Rangoli activities, music, and dance. The day was full of learning, fun, and cultural connection, celebrating traditions from our Indian friends.

Kaiako set up three exciting stations: Murukku Station, Henna Station, and Rangoli Station. The tamariki enjoyed learning about Indian culture and the meaning behind Diwali through a short video.

At the Murukku Station, children explored making murukku from playdough. At the Henna Station, they created beautiful designs using markers, which were later traced with real henna by the kaiako.

At the Rangoli Station, tamariki created colourful patterns with guidance from a parent volunteer. They also had lots of fun singing and dancing along to songs such as ‘Chammak Challo’ and ‘Koka’.

Overall, our Diwali celebration at BestStart Dublin Street was a wonderful success — a meaningful way to embrace and share traditions from our Indian friends while making learning fun for our tamariki.

Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating!
