Our tamariki from Whare Pēpi had a wonderful haerenga (excursion) recently as we ventured out into our hapori (community) to visit our local pāka (park)

The rā (sun) was shining, the air was filled with laughter, and our tamariki were full of excitement as they explored the playground.

They climbed, slid, and of course, spent plenty of time on the rīpeka (swings) – always a favourite for our little ones! It was beautiful to see their faces light up with joy and curiosity as they explored the world around them.

At BestStart Te Aroha, excursions are an important part of our ako (learning) journey. These experiences help tamariki build confidence in new environments, strengthen relationships with their peers and kaiako (teachers), and develop a strong sense of tūrangawaewae (belonging).

Being out in our community allows them to make real-world connections and see familiar places and faces in a meaningful way. We love taking every opportunity to explore our tāone (town) – whether it’s a walk to the park, a visit to the library, or simply discovering something new together.

These shared adventures nurture curiosity, connection, and wonder. Our Whare Pēpi whānau can’t wait for their next haerenga out in the community!
