At our centre, we believe that children are natural scientists.
From the youngest pēpi to our oldest tamariki, we provide opportunities for children to explore, investigate, question, and discover the world around them through hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and wonder.
Our older tamariki enjoy venturing Into the Woods, where nature becomes their classroom. As they explore the bush environment, they observe plants, insects, textures, and seasonal changes, developing an understanding of the natural world through real-life experiences. These adventures encourage children to ask questions, solve problems, and build a connection with the environment around them.
For our younger tamariki, outdoor science experiences are designed to be playful and engaging. Equipped with magnifying glasses, nature books, and bug resources, children become investigators as they search for insects and examine the details of the world around them. These experiences help children develop observation skills, language, and an appreciation for living things while nurturing their sense of curiosity.
Our toddlers delight in sensory science experiences such as exploring baking soda and vinegar. Watching the bubbling reactions creates excitement and wonder, encouraging children to make predictions, observe changes, and experiment with cause and effect. These simple investigations introduce early scientific concepts through play and exploration.
Even our youngest learners are discovering science and nature through sensory-rich experiences. By exploring a herb garden set up indoors, babies can touch, smell, and investigate a variety of natural materials. These experiences support sensory development while fostering an early connection to nature and the environment.
Through these meaningful experiences, children are developing confidence as learners, learning to ask questions, explore their ideas, and make sense of the world around them. By encouraging curiosity, investigation, and hands-on discovery, we are helping to build a lifelong love of science, nature, and learning.
