At BestStart Waihopai Kindy, we believe in nurturing kindness, connection, and a strong sense of community—for our tamariki and their whānau.
Recently, tamariki have been enjoying choosing books from our Lilliput Library, located beside our community pantry at the entrance. The simple joy of picking a story and knowing it can be borrowed or swapped anytime has become a special part of our daily rhythm.
Both the library and pantry are here to support everyone, helping to create a space where sharing and caring for one another comes naturally. When our kindy gardens—or the Plunket Invercargill community gardens—have produce to share, we let our wider community know through the Invercargill Community Facebook page. This helps ensure the goodness grown here reaches those who need it.
We’re incredibly grateful to the Invercargill Menz Shed for building our pantry and library, and to local artists Courtney McDonald and Alec Ferguson for their beautiful artwork. Our Lilliput Library offers something for everyone, with books for all ages and interests. You’re always welcome to borrow, return, or swap a book at any time.
At BestStart Waihopai Kindy, we’re proud to be growing more than just vegetables—we’re growing a culture of kindness, sharing, and belonging within our community.
