Our tamariki had a fantastic learning experience today thanks to a special visit from Bunnings
The children were excited to take part in a hands-on gardening activity where they were able to paint their own plant pots before choosing a beautiful flower to plant and take home. This experience provided many opportunities for learning, creativity, and social interaction.
As the children carefully decorated their pots, they explored a variety of colours, patterns, and designs, expressing their individuality and creativity. There were many meaningful conversations taking place as the children shared ideas, talked about their favourite colours, and admired each other’s work.
This helped to develop their communication skills and confidence in sharing their thoughts and opinions with others. The activity also encouraged cooperation and teamwork. The children practised taking turns, sharing paint and other resources, and showing patience while waiting for their turn. It was wonderful to see the older children naturally guiding and supporting the younger children, helping them with their painting and planting while demonstrating kindness, leadership, and care.
These positive interactions helped strengthen relationships and foster a sense of belonging within the group. Planting the flowers provided an opportunity for the children to learn about nature, gardening, and the importance of caring for living things. They eagerly selected their flowers and carefully planted them in their beautifully decorated pots, taking great pride in their achievements. The excitement on their faces as they prepared to take their plants home was lovely to see.
