Physically Active Play

Our tamariki in the Whero Room recently enjoyed a fun and physically active outdoor experience created by one of our kaiako.

Using just a few cones, she sparked an engaging jumping game where children practised jumping over the cones with two feet.

This simple but effective activity supported the development of gross motor skills, balance, and coordination while encouraging children to challenge themselves physically.

Alongside these physical benefits, tamariki were also building important social skills through turn-taking, motivating their peers, and fostering friendships through shared play experiences.

This activity showed how meaningful learning can grow from simple resources, supporting both physical development and positive social connections.
