At BestStart Marne Street, we were open between Christmas and New Year, with only the statutory holidays closed. During this time, we had just a few tamariki attending. Kaiako and tamariki enjoyed fun activities together each day.
On 31 December 2025, we celebrated with a yummy homemade fish and chip day. We came together as a whānau for kai and enjoyed lunch while engaging in playful activities.
Tamariki used magnet fishing lines to catch sea creatures and decorated fish with collage materials. We plan to turn these into a beautiful underwater collage when we return next week.
Our older children role modelled how to use glue, paint, and collage materials, supporting the learning of our youngest tamariki through observation and imitation.
Children enjoyed the freedom to move between rooms and interact in mixed-age groups. Siblings spent quality time together, and we saw lots of kindness as older tamariki cared for younger ones. We even had some fun face painting to finish the day.
Happy New Year to everyone!
