King's Coronation Celebration

1

High Tea With The King Monday 8th May The children have been working really hard last week at making some decorations to celebrate the coronation of the King over the weekend. Today we were fortunate enough to have the King come visit us and have some high tea with us, this event was very much enjoyed by all. In preparation, in the morning we made individual crowns using felts and jewel stickers.

We were also lucky enough to have some dress ups loaned to us from a family (Thank You!) which we used to have a photo shoot with. In the afternoon the children then lined up behind the chairs and waited patiently for the King (which happened to be our amazing reliever Stuart who has been teaching here over the last few weeks).

The children's stunned faces were just amazing. After greeting the King we then sat down for our high tea. The King gave a speech and then we ate alongside him. "This has been the best day" said one child. It was so nice making connections with our wider world and the children being so engaged in the learning experience and many children had watched a little of the event on television and were so excitied to share what they alredy knew. So much learning in such a fun experience- the best kind of learning happens whilst having fun.
