A Day Surrounded by Nature and Animals
At BestStart Katikati, we believe in providing our tamariki with enriching, hands-on experiences that stimulate their learning and connect them with the world around them. In January, our little explorers had the most exciting adventure – a visit to Marshall's Animal Farm.
The day was packed with fun, learning, and unforgettable memories. Let us take you through the highlights of our exciting trip! As soon as the children arrived at Marshall’s Animal Farm, they were greeted by the fresh country air and the friendly farm animals that were waiting to meet them. From curious ducks to cheeky goats, the tamariki had the chance to interact with a variety of animals in their natural surroundings. The hands-on experience was one of the best parts of the day. The tamariki loved getting up close to the animals. They had the chance to feed guinea pig, stroke the horses, and even hold some piglets.
They learned about how animals like cows, sheep, and goats provide milk and how the farm works together to care for them. The opportunity to interact with the animals taught the tamariki about empathy, responsibility, and the importance of caring for all living creatures. At BestStart Katikati, we understand that children learn best through play. Marshall’s Animal Farm provided an ideal setting for this. The space allowed the tamariki to release their energy and further develop their physical and social skills while enjoying the great outdoors. The tamariki’s curiosity was sparked at every corner. From identifying animal tracks to discussing the different sounds animals make, there were endless opportunities for learning and exploration.
The experience at the farm encouraged questions, sparked conversations, and created lasting memories that our tamariki will cherish. The visit was also an opportunity for our tamariki to practice some of the skills they’ve been developing back at daycare, like sharing, teamwork, and communication. They worked together to care for the animals and help each other throughout the day, creating bonds with their peers and reinforcing positive social interactions. The visit was not just a fun day out – it was an educational experience that broadened the tamariki’s understanding of the world and helped them develop a deeper connection to nature and the animals we share the planet with. It was a reminder of the importance of learning through play, exploring the world around us, and fostering a love for nature.
At BestStart Katikati, we can’t wait to plan more adventures that inspire curiosity, spark creativity, and allow our tamariki to explore the world in exciting and meaningful ways. Stay tuned for more adventures to come! A big thank you to Marshall’s Animal Farm for providing such a welcoming, fun, and educational experience for our tamariki. We highly recommend a visit to any families looking for a fun day out!
