A Fun Day!
Now that everyone has officially returned to BestStart Kamo Central after the holidays, we decided to have a fun day at the centre! All the Kaiako dressed up and encouraged the children to come dressed up as whatever they wanted. Unfortunately, the weather was not that great, but we did not let that stop us from having as much fun as we could.
The children enjoyed playing and dancing with balloons inside in the morning. In the afternoon once the weather cleared a little, we had fun popping balloons full of slime on our Kaiako. This ended in a giant water fight with water guns, water balloons, and some special crochet water balloons made by our amazing Kaiako Karyn. All you could hear throughout our centre was joy and laughter, it was an amazing day had by all.
It is through these kinds of fun activities that our tamariki learn how to treat others fairly and include them in play. It provides them with the opportunity to use a range of strategies and skills to play and learn with others. They build a sense of responsibility and respect for the needs and well-being of the group, including the ability to take responsibility for group decisions. A classroom is a place where we need laughter. Lighthearted moments make teaching more freeing and more appropriate for children
