May has been a fun filled month for the all of us as a whole centre with many celebrations especially Mother's Day and Pink Shirt Day.

In the Kahurangi room we have had lots of activities with arts and crafts and sandpit discovery. The children are exploring their environment and loving the outdoor environment with the autumn leaves and playing in puddles after it has rained.

We have celebrated Mother’s Day with pink activities and a breakfast for the mothers. We made special mother day cards with the children’s art and photos of the child. We celebrated anti bullying day with activities with sand and drawing and painting dressed up in pink and had special pink cupcakes that the children loved. We have a full classroom now and centre life is busy. We have introduced new children into our room, we have a lot of under ones children start. We are loving the relationships that are forming between Kaiako and children.

Month of May has been a month of celebrations within the Pounamu room as we celebrate a number of Kaiako birthdays and a few children's birthdays too. Some of tamariki celebrated their graduations after achieving their milestones of moving to the Kawakawa room. In the Pounamu room  tamariki have been learning to be kind by helping each other, working together, waiting for their turns, caring for the baby dolls and through pretend play. Arts and crafts have also been a great interest within the room as children love exploring their senses with paint and expressing themselves through a variety of mediums. They loved making cards and painting the clay hearts for their beautiful Mums for Mother's Day.

Pink shirt Day was an exciting day and it was awesome to see children and teachers dressed up in pink. We had fun decorating our room in pink along with a variety of pink experiences such as making cupcake toppers, pink play dough, gold coin donations, pink cupcakes, and pink moon sand. This month in the kawakawa room we have been focusing on role play an imaginative play.

The tamariki have really enjoyed exploring these corners an getting fully engaged in their play . Through this play we have observed our tamariki’s current interests as well as their inspirations of what they would like to be when they grow up . In the kawakawa room we have also been focusing on be school ready activities as we have quiet a few of our tamariki who will be graduating soon so we would like to prepare them for their next step . This month we have also been very busy getting creative and spoiling our mums with our amazing art work .
