A reason to love Summer!
At Best Start Gillies we have ample number of reasons to love summer and one of them is water play. Though, it is not new for our children but yes, it is the most popular one.
This Monday morning, when sun was shining bright, our teachers set up the trough with a soapy water solution with all the sea animals in it. The experience was inviting, stimulating, and engaging for our tamariki. They splish splash the water, soaked themselves into the solution, and laughed together as waterplay becomes a focus of fun. Teachers sang different songs related to water to add vocabulary to our children’s language.
Water play is an excellent sensory-motor activity. It allows children to explore a substance and make discoveries about it. Water play releases energy, it can be both invigorating or relaxing and calming for young children. Water play is an open ended activity, which allows children to make discoveries and explore outcomes.
Water play really is versatile so at Gillies, teachers aims to regularly change the activity or objects which ensures that all children get the most out of it.
