We have had so much fun in Te Awa engaging with our whānau and inviting them to visit us. As part of our centre priorities, we want to see more whanau engagement in our centre. A lot of our tamariki have a big interest in animals and due to our excursions to the local reserve, we have been seeing lots of dogs out and about in our community.

This gave our kaiako Jordan the idea to invite one of our families to bring in their dog for a visit. We adored our visit from Cindy the dog! Our tamariki learned how to say hello to dogs safely and how to pat Cindy very gently. Cindy loved sniffing and licking us and especially loved eating treats!

We love building connections with our whānau and ensuring that everyone feels a strong sense of belonging with us in Te Awa. Our visit from Cindy taught our tamariki about how important it is to be kind to animals as well as people. As we are learning about caring for the world around us it was a great opportunity for tamariki to ask questions and learn about how to care for a dog.

Ngā mihi to Eva and her whānau for sharing their beloved pet with us.
