It's been more than a month since BestStart Hanley's Farm opened its doors to the community. Here in the Toddlers' Room, we couldn't be happier and more proud of what we have built up to now as a whanau (family). Our tamariki (children) have become familiar with the space, routines, their kaiako (teachers), and their peers through intentional learning activities like the ones we did during Pink shirt day, daily mat times, kai time, lots of messy play, sensory activities and provocations like a wonderful ice cream shop. These events and activities have been the channels through which we have been creating bonds of friendship, inclusion, belonging, and learning.

After a successful opening, our goal forward is to continue growing as a whanau (family) and to accompany our tamariki in their learning processes while providing enough tools for our children to interact, create, and build the world of which they are part of. As kaiako, our goal is to work every day to enhance the great skills and abilities of our children, creating fun and memorable experiences.

“Learning and teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the river flow by; instead, they should embark together on a journey down the water. Through an active, reciprocal exchange, teaching can strengthen learning and how to learn.” - Loris Malaguzzi
