A Very Happy Diwali 2021!
On Friday the 5th of November we celebrated Diwali at Coast Boulevard.
The children were greeted with some rangoli designs in the foyer and all down the hallway as they entered their rooms, and everyone came dressed in their brightest colours and wore their best jewels!
For morning tea everyone had the most delicious samosa’s prepared by our centre cook and all of the children enjoyed trying something different that isn’t on our usual menu. Throughout the day we had Indian music playing with a few dance lessons happening across the centre and the children got to participate in some Diwali arts and crafts. Some of the children got to create and colour in their own rangoli designs and everyone got to make themselves a deva, a special tealight candle holder made of clay. The children were able to paint and decorate their deva with jewels which were particularly exciting for our girls that love a bit of bling. One of the highlights of the day was having henna designs on our hands and arms, the children all lined up to wait for their turn and once their simple designs were completed, some of the children were able to sit down for 30+ minutes to let the designs dry before washing them off. The children were so excited to watch the transformation from wet henna, to a dry orange design that darkened to brown throughout the day. Happy Diwali 2021!
