A very sporting day
What an exciting adventure for BestStart Glasgow Street's four- and five-year-olds! What an exciting adventure for our four- and five-year-olds! We were invited to an athletics' day with all of our sister centres from Palmerston North and Whanganui. So off we went on a big bus, on the way we saw... cars, sheep, cows, and a big river by going across the really long bridge.
When we got to the venue, we saw that all the other centres had dressed up in different colours (we were all dressed in pink). The fun continued as we had, sack racing, gum boot throwing, shot put, long jump, an obstacle course, hurdles, egg and spoon racing and running races too! We used lots of energy so in between events we replenished our energy with some healthy Kai and lots of water.
After we all had a turn giving each one a go with everyone cheering the participants on, we had the first-place winner from our team have a running race against the winners of the other teams.
After the children's race, there was the parent's race and then it was the teachers turn to race! "GO TEAM GLASGOW!" we all shouted. What fun we had cheering our team mates on.
We then had a break for lunch and had our delicious packed lunch Lola had made for each of us while we listened to Kiwibop sing and dance. We then joined in with our dance moves.
Lastly, we had the prize giving where we all received a certificate for being awesome participants, with a fantastic can do' attitude. What an adventure! We cannot wait for our turn again next year!
