During our BestStart Harrison Street school holiday programme we organised an excursion for the children to Gordon’s Bush via a bus trip.  As part of our vision “Growing a community” excursions are one of the ways we use to link to and explore what is out there for our children to learn and connect with.

This small bush walk on the outskirts of Whanganui is enjoyed by local whanau and tamariki.  Sometimes you can find little surprises hidden among the vegetation such as painted rocks, spider web constructions, insects or just hear the wind rustling among the very tall trees.

For many of our tamariki this was their first bus ride and with many parents joining us on this excursion it was a great adventure out. The children discovered many interesting things like the spider webs, looking up at the very tall trees and fallen leaves on the ground.
