At BestStart North Harbour, we value and support the concept of AKO - teaching and learning relationship. Our children are empowered to learn with and from each other. Reciprocal interaction is evident in their play. Our tamariki help each other. They take turns and share. They work alongside each other. They create things together. They are happy to be around each other. They are building productive relationships. Our role as teachers is to support our tamariki create a caring and inclusive learning environment where each child feels that their contribution is valued and that they can participate to their full potential. We intentionally know, respect, and value who they are, and where they come from, and build on what they bring with them. Our tamariki have developed a wonderful sense of belonging and well-being in our learning centre. They increasingly become confident learners. We are very proud to have embedded the concept of Ako - Teaching and Learning into our daily practice. We are also proud to have created an inclusive, calm, welcoming and respectful environment where our families know that their children have a place to grow and develop into wonderful individuals.
