This morning I observed our tamariki playing in a box, imagining and creating their own boat. It became a little challenging, as there was not enough space for everyone to fit in the boat. We sat down brainstormed and problem solved together to come up with a way to make a boat for all our friends to sit in.

We worked together, getting chairs, signs, decorating, and attaching our steering wheel to make our boat, which named Brave; to help us courageously travel the seas. We then added our waves, so we could see the water on our boat.

Using the speaker we experienced the sound of waves crashing against Brave as we travelled, we heard seagulls in the distance. We had fearless captains taking turns to navigate the seas, then we rowed our boat down the stream. As time passed it soon got taken over by pirates, who took Brave back out to the high seas.

What a day of adventure--we have had some adventurous and determined explorers who let their creativity fly, persevered through challenges that arose, and gallantly captained their boat, Brave across the High seas.
