Friday marked the day that AmeriCARna visited town again. Our BestStart South Rd tamariki were so excited and eagerly waited with great excitement for this day to arrive. Leading up to the event tamariki were asking, “when are the cars coming?, “how many sleeps?”.

We set up our rooms to build the excitement and when the day arrived our tamariki were over the moon. As the sound of ohhh and ahhh, revving cars and beeping horns filled the air, the look of delight on our little one's faces were priceless.

As our tamariki venture beyond our fence they are learning the life skills of becoming a good citizen, being careful around the roads and following instructions. They are also gaining understanding of the world they live in and creating theories and understanding of events and things they enjoy and perhaps things they don’t enjoy so much.

Upon returning to the centre, tamariki can use their experience to retell stories and recounts of the event, a very essential for later literacy success. We had so much fun! With so much whanau supports our day went off without a hitch.  Until next AmeriCARna....Here’s a few snaps from the big event.
