The end of the summer holidays brings with it our Annual BestStart Manawatu/Whanganui inter-hub athletics competition. This is something our tamariki look forward to every year. The 12 eldest children get to venture over to College Street Normal School where they compete against our other regional centres for a chance at the much coveted trophy.

This allows our tamariki to experience what these types of events might be like at school, helping to prepare them for their upcoming transition. It also helps them to be active and enjoy a little healthy competition along the way.

This year the weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cool. Our little athletes gave it their all as many of their parents watched on and our Maggie came away with the medal for the Gumboot Throw!

We even got our parents in on some of the action and our tamariki loved seeing them take part as well.
All round we had a wonderful day and can't wait for a chance to win back the trophy next year!
