The Antarctic centre, Recently at Montessori St Albans the children have been learning about our Oceans and the Antarctic. We have talked a lot about how to look after our Oceans and why it is important to look after our oceans for all the sea life. We also learnt all about the special animals of the Antarctic, where Antactica is, and why it is so special. To extend on this we took the children on a visit to the Antarctic centre. What a great time everyone had! We learnt all about the penguins and got to watch them being feed, learnt how they swim, where they live and what they eat. Next we were able to visit the snow room. The children loved playing on the snowmobiles and feeling the ice. We even got to experience a snow storm! Many of the children couldnt believe how cold it was and only few children remaind in the snow room till the end, they were all very brave as the room got very cold and dark. Finally we were able to meet the Husky dogs. There were 3 dogs and were able to gently pat each dog after learning how to be very careful around them. This was such an amazing experience for everyone.
