At BestStart Stokes Valley, we believe that some of the richest learning experiences happen when our tamariki connect with the world around them.
One of the highlights of our programme is our regular visits to the local library for Baby Bounce, a fun and engaging music and movement session designed especially for infants and toddlers.
Each visit is filled with songs, waiata, action rhymes, stories, bubbles, and plenty of laughter. Our tamariki love singing along to familiar tunes, copying actions, dancing, and exploring music in a way that is both fun and meaningful. Every child participates in their own way, some confidently join in from the start, while others enjoy watching before gradually building the confidence to take part.
These outings provide much more than an enjoyable morning out. They support children's developing communication, confidence, and social skills while nurturing a love of music and movement. It is always rewarding to see our tamariki become more familiar with the songs each week, proudly joining in with the actions and beginning to recognise favourite rhymes and stories.
A particularly special part of our Baby Bounce visits is the opportunity to strengthen Whanaungatanga, an important value within our local curriculum. By regularly visiting the library, our tamariki build relationships with the librarians, and members of our local community. These experiences help children develop a strong sense of belonging and show them that learning and meaningful connections happen both inside and outside the centre.
Baby Bounce has become a much-loved part of our programme and is always something our tamariki look forward to. We are grateful to have such a wonderful community resource that allows our youngest learners to explore, connect, and grow through music, movement, and shared experiences.
