Matariki, a time to come together to signal the start of the new year and to mourn those that we have lost in the previous year.  At BestStart Bains Ave we learnt about Matariki with waiata and pukapuka as well as activities throughout the month.  Then we celebrated our learnings with a kai hakari at the centre inviting all the whānau in to come and join us in this celebration.  With the meat donated by The Mad Butcher, vegetables donated by the whānau and kai cookers loaned to us also by whānau the night was one to remember.  The night was lead with karakia and an explanation of Matariki by Matua Biddle (Tumuaki, Whitiora Primary School), followed by our children singing songs as re-telling of the story 'Tane's Stars'.  We are so thankful for the support of our whānau and we are looking forward to this next year!

It was an awesome evening. Thank you so much for all the hard work and love that went into it. A million thanks also for the delicious Kai.

You are so welcome. The staff are so welcoming and deserve the acknowledgement of how valued you are to both our tamariki, and to us as parents/whānau. Look forward to the next event.
