The children at Beststart Regent Kindy love to bake.

This is something we enjoy doing as part of our holiday programmes and plan to make part of our weekly programme this year in 2021.

Today we baked cookies, the children got to experience measuring, scooping, tipping/pouring, mixing and rolling the cookies into balls to put on the tray to cook.

Baking offers our tamariki (children) with early mathematics and Scientific concepts; develops their independence and self-help skills; teachers them to listen to and follow instructions and follow a plan or recipe. The children love to bake and most of all love to enjoy eating the finished product.

Our early childhood curriculum Te Whāriki talks about how over time and with guidance and encouragement children become increasingly capable of playing, inventing, imaging and experimenting, learning strategies for exploring, thinking and reasoning.

I wonder what the children will bake next…..
